Scalp Micropigmentation CA is not currently offering franchises for sale. This page is an expression-of-interest form only. Submitting this form does not constitute a franchise offer, agreement, or commitment on either side. About Scalp Micropigmentation CA
Founded in 2016 by Master Barber Joe V. Nguyen, Scalp Micropigmentation CA has grown from a single private studio in San Lorenzo, California to two Bay Area locations serving the East Bay and Peninsula & Silicon Valley. Our approach: one client at a time, master-barber-led, education-first.
Joe holds AAM Gold Certification (American Academy of Micropigmentation), a California Master Barber license, BBB Accreditation, and Body Art Practitioner registration with the County of Alameda Public Health Department. The studio maintains a 4.9-star rating across 187 Google reviews and 4.8-star rating across 105 Yelp reviews.
SMPCA Academy trains new California SMP artists through structured curriculum, live-model practice, and ongoing mentorship. Being trusted to train the next generation is itself a peer-recognized signal of technical mastery in this specialty.
As we consider future expansion, we’re looking for aligned operating partners — people who share our belief that SMP is an artistry-driven discipline where reputation, quality, and client care compound over decades. This is not a high-volume chain-store model.
Who we’re looking for
Ideal candidates may include people from any of the following backgrounds. Prior SMP experience would likely not be required if a future program includes training.
Beyond background, we’re looking for candidates who value long-term reputation over short-term volume, take pride in craft, and treat client relationships as the core of the business.
What a future network could include
The following are aspirational goals for a future network, not current offerings or guaranteed features of any potential future franchise program.
Brand Recognition
Association with an established Bay Area SMP brand built on 9 years of Master Barber-led work + Google reviews + industry credentials.
Training & Certification
SMPCA Academy is one of California's structured SMP training programs. Future partners would have direct access to Joe V. Nguyen's teaching methodology.
Marketing Systems
Established website architecture, content library, GBP methodology, and social media playbooks (Trust Formula, Caption Framework) that would be shared with future partners.
Operating Procedures
Documented consultation process, session protocols, aftercare guidance, and quality standards refined over hundreds of procedures.
Technology Systems
CRM, scheduling, review-collection, and automation infrastructure that a network could share.
Lead Generation Support
Regional SEO, paid social, and referral partnerships developed at the network level.
Ongoing Coaching
Direct mentorship access, quarterly business reviews, and technique refinement sessions.
Community of Owners
Peer network of aligned operators sharing best practices, case studies, and market insights.

Frequently Asked
Are franchises currently available?+
No — Scalp Micropigmentation CA does not currently offer franchises for sale. This page collects expressions of interest from qualified candidates for potential future expansion. If and when a formal franchise or licensing program is developed, priority list members would be notified first and provided with the required legal disclosures under the FTC Franchise Rule and applicable state laws.
What is this page then?+
This is an expression-of-interest form only. Submitting the form does not create any franchise agreement, promise, offer, or obligation on either side. It simply adds you to a priority list of qualified candidates SMPCA may contact if a future franchise or licensing program is developed.
What happens after I submit my information?+
Your inquiry is added to a private database reviewed by Joe V. Nguyen. If your background aligns with what we're looking for, you may receive follow-up communication with additional questions or preliminary discussions. No financial commitment or franchise offer will be made at that stage. We may also send occasional updates about SMPCA's growth if you opt in to receive them.
Do I need existing SMP experience?+
No prior SMP experience would likely be required if a future program includes training. Existing experience in adjacent fields (barbering, PMU, tattoo, medical aesthetics, salon/med spa operations) is highly relevant. Business ownership and operational experience are just as important as technical skill.
Can I be added to the priority list?+
Yes — that's what this form does. Submitting the qualification form adds your profile to our priority list for future consideration. There's no cost, obligation, or commitment on either side.
Which locations or markets are being considered?+
SMPCA currently operates in the Bay Area (Palo Alto + San Lorenzo). We're evaluating multiple future markets across California, with particular interest in Los Angeles, Orange County, San Diego, and Sacramento metro areas. We're also open to hearing about markets you believe are underserved. Please indicate your preferred market on the form.
Will you make income or investment promises?+
No. We do not and cannot make any representations, projections, or guarantees about income, profit, return on investment, or business success. Any future franchise program would provide required financial disclosures in a Franchise Disclosure Document (FDD) as mandated by federal and state law before any offer could be made.
How do I stay updated?+
By opting in on the form, you'll receive occasional updates about SMPCA's growth, industry insights, and any developments related to a future partnership or franchise program. You can unsubscribe at any time.
I'm not from California — can I still apply?+
Yes. While SMPCA is currently a Bay Area business, we're open to hearing from qualified candidates in other US states and internationally. Please indicate your location and market interest on the form.
How is the priority list evaluated?+
Applications are reviewed on factors including relevant industry experience, business ownership history, alignment with SMPCA's brand values (quality, education, client-first care), market opportunity in your preferred region, and timeline. There is no fee, and being added to the list creates no obligation on either party.
